“I was glad to have them out here,” Fangio said of the open practices. “Maybe we’ll win enough this year that the (raised) bank (seating area) will be full next year.”
Risner’s mom organized the bus full of kids who made the trip.
“At least 50 kids,” Risner said. “It meant so much. I had a lot of teammates giving me grief at first, but then saying, ‘Bottom line, dude, it’s really, really cool that you have kids coming out to watch you practice and they’re from your town.’”
