3 more Colorado players in XFL inaugural draft pool after Day 3 of announcements

Another day, another set of three Colorado players have been announced for the XFL’s inaugural draft pool.

Linebacker Brandon Payer (CSU-Pueblo) and offensive tackles T.J. Roundtree (Colorado State) and Ryan Cummings (Wyoming via Valor Christian) on Wednesday were included in the three day of announcements by the league.

Payer, a 6-foot-4, 230 pounder, was named to the Associated Press’ All-American first team as a senior in 2018 and ended his career with 377 tackles, the most in ThunderWolves history since 2008. He also starred at Conifer High School.

Roundtree was a graduate transfer at CSU last season from Lousiville. The 6-6, 332-pound lineman played in all 12 games for the Rams in 2018.

The 6-6, 309-pound Cummings was a four-year starter at Wyoming, but his final two years were abbreviated due to injuries. He received a training camp invite from the Texans last year, according to the Casper Star-Tribune. He played on the line in front of Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey at Valor Christian.

Named previously include wide receivers Jalen Rowell (Air Force), Nelson Spruce (Colorado) and Max McCaffrey (Duke via Valor Christian), defensive end Leo Jackson III (Colorado), and offensive linemen Ty McCulley (CSU-Pueblo) and Trae Moxley (CSU).

Other names of interest announced Wednesday include former Raiders receiver Jacoby Ford, running back and former No. 3 overall pick Trent Richardson, quarterback Vincent Testaverde Jr. — son of former NFL QB Vinny Testaverde — and kicker Shane Tripucka, grandson of former Broncos quarterback Frank Tripucka.

The XFL draft will take place Oct. 15-16 via conference call. The results will be released over social media.
