A pedestrian, in the westbound lanes of the West 6th Avenue freeway, was killed when hit by a vehicle on Friday night in Lakewood.
The incident happened at about 6:50 p.m. near Wadsworth Boulevard, police said. Westbound lanes of the highway were shut down because of the fatal collision.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. It’s unclear why the pedestrian, who died at the scene, was on the freeway. He was not identified.
