Driver fires gun during Commerce City road rage chase

At least one gunshot was fired early Thursday morning after an argument near Kemp Elementary School in Commerce City turned into an automobile chase, Commerce City police said.

The incident caused nearby schools to increase security. No one was hurt and police have not released information about any arrests, according to a Commerce City Police Department news release.

Tempers between two drivers flared into an argument near the elementary school at 6775 Oneida Street around 8:30 a.m., according to the news release.

The drivers of two vehicles including a white Monte Carlo took off, with one car following the other, the release said.

At East 72nd Avenue and Colorado Highway 2 someone inside the Monte Carlo fired at least one gunshot, the news release said.

Police responded to the area of East 72nd Avenue and Colorado 2 at about 8:35 a.m.

Local area schools were placed on lock-out as a precaution but no schools were directly involved in the incident, the news release said.
