Arvada police investigating fatal shooting of teenage boy

One teenager is dead and another is being held for investigation of manslaughter after a fatal shooting in Arvada.

Police responded Thursday afternoon to reports of a shooting on the 8100 block of Chase Drive. They found a teenage boy with a gunshot wound, and he died on scene from his injuries, Arvada police Detective Dave Snelling said.

Two other teenage boys were at the scene and taken into custody. One was released with no charges, and the other was placed in a detention facility for investigation of manslaughter, recklessly causing the death of another person, a police news release said. Authorities did not identify the victim or the suspect.

All three of the boys knew each other, and the incident does not present a danger to the community, Snelling said. Police are still investigating the shooting.
